Last week, we closed our Calgary offices on Wednesday July 1st so employees and students could take the day off to celebrate Canada’s 148th Birthday! At Canadian Natural we are proud Canadians with a distinctly Canadian-targeted asset base and North America serves as our foundation.
Our Corporate head office is also based in Canada, with office towers located in the heart of downtown Calgary. Students come from across the country to work in this vibrant city with a great downtown community so we thought we would give you a quick tour.
Right off our front doorstep is the bustling Stephen Avenue; Calgary’s only pedestrian mall. Lively with shops, restaurants and entertainment, Stephen Avenue always has something going on. There are even pop-up picnics that take place over the summer months.
Just a few blocks away, you are connected to the beautiful Bow River pathway by Eau Claire Plaza. Right across the bridge from Prince’s Island park employees often take the opportunity to walk or run with co-workers over their lunch break or use the pathways to commute to work.
Calgary is known for its food culture, and downtown Calgary features numerous great restaurants, coffee shops, and food trucks! Food trucks are a fun and delicious part of the downtown Calgary community.
There are many ways to get around and explore downtown Calgary too, whether it be by foot, bike, c-train, or Car2Go. With brand new designated bike lanes, and many walking pathways, the core is very accessible.
The downtown portion of the C-Train which travels along 7 Avenue is known as the free fare zone. It is free to ride either C-Train route between 3rd Street East and 11th Street West along 7 Avenue. Car2Go offers Calgarians a large fleet of convenient ’pay by the minute’ Smart cars located around the inner-city.
Overall, Calgary is an amazing place to live and work and we are excited to be a part of this great city!
