Safety is a core value at Canadian Natural and is incorporated into all of our operational activities. Our ultimate goal, through continuous improvement, is no harm to people and no safety incidents. When students start their work-terms at Canadian Natural they are quickly shown how important safety is to us, during their orientations we highlight our “Doing it Right” attitude to completing work and emphasize that they always have the right to refuse unsafe work. Our Relief Operating Summer Students also complete a comprehensive safety training program, including defensive driving and ATV training, which takes place at SAIT during their first week before they report to their field locations.

Our strong commitment to safety throughout the company is why we’re proud to donate $2.5 million to STARS Air Ambulance. The commitment is over five-years at $500,000/year. Canadian Natural has supported STARS for 25 years and we’re proud to know that our donation helps ensure critically injured patients can be transported to hospitals throughout Western Canada.

Canadian Natural President, Steve Laut says, “Working together is the foundation of our mission statement and we are proud of our long-standing partnership with STARS. Safety is a core value at Canadian Natural and we are pleased to work with STARS to help provide a safe environment for our employees, their families and our neighbours.”

Canadian Natural Sr. Vice President of North American Operations, Scott Stauth says, “To ensure safe and reliable operations, we have an industry recognized Safety Management System in place, a comprehensive world-class corporate Emergency Response Plan that enables quick, appropriate response and management of any incident that might occur at our sites. That being said, we understand that accidents occur, even with the best people and practices in place.” He adds that this partnership will support better care and recovery outcomes for patients by helping provide a safety net for the communities where we operate and live – enhancing our emergency response for our employees and the community at large.
